Nothing Cancels the CMF Phone 3 Pro, and Surging Memory Prices Are the Reason
Nothing is not shipping a new CMF Phone this year. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis has confirmed there will be no CMF phone launch in 2026, citing rising memory prices.
The cancellation puts an abrupt end to months of anticipation around what was expected to be the CMF Phone 3 Pro, the budget line’s planned follow-up to last year’s well-received CMF Phone 2 Pro.
What Happened to the CMF Phone 3 Pro
The CMF Phone 2 Pro launched in April 2025, and its successor was expected between August and September 2026. That launch is now cancelled.
Evangelidis said the company “can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF.” Rather than delaying the device or releasing a compromised product, Nothing chose to cancel it publicly.
The decision reflects rising memory costs, which hit budget phones hardest. While flagship devices can absorb higher RAM and storage costs, value-focused phones must either raise prices or cut specifications. Nothing concluded neither option aligned with the CMF brand.
Tracking the best Android phones, the cancellation highlights how the global memory shortage is influencing which devices reach the market, not just their pricing.
Budget and mid-range brands, including competitors to the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, face the same cost pressures, though few have cancelled products outright.
CMF Is Not Going Away, Just Not as a Phone This Year
While there will be no new CMF phone in 2026, Evangelidis confirmed that “several new products” are still coming from the brand, including entries in entirely new categories beyond smartphones.
He also teased that a new Nothing-branded phone is coming soon, fueling speculation about whether that could be the Nothing Phone (4).
That distinction matters. The CMF brand itself is not being shut down, ts 2026 roadmap is simply shifting away from phones toward accessories and other hardware categories where memory costs have less impact on the bottom line.
The main Nothing-branded phone lineup, which operates at a higher price point with more room to absorb rising component costs, continues on its existing schedule.
