Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra US Prices Reportedly Leak, and the News Isn’t Great
Samsung may be raising prices again on its foldable lineup. South Korean outlet SE Daily reports the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s US price will exceed $2,000, with a $2,099 starting price described as “likely” by industry sources.
While the other highly teased Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to start at $1,899 for its 256GB model.
How Much More You’d Reportedly Pay
If accurate, the Z Fold 8 Ultra’s price would land $100 above the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which launched at $1,999.99.
Samsung is reportedly still conducting a final internal review of its pricing strategy ahead of the July 22 unveiling, so the figure isn’t locked in yet.
A hike wouldn’t be surprising given the ongoing memory chip shortage and the price increases Samsung already applied to the Galaxy S26 lineup earlier this year.
The Z Fold series has never been cheap to begin with, so even a modest bump pushes it further into premium territory.
Two Distinct Foldables With Different Positioning
The naming split matters here. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, sometimes referred to as the “Wide Fold,” is expected to introduce a 4:3 internal display ratio, a shift aimed at making the unfolded screen better suited for video playback than previous Fold generations.
Samsung has effectively confirmed it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip, with leaks pointing to a 4,800mAh battery and a dual 50MP rear camera setup.
The Z Fold 8 Ultra, meanwhile, carries the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip but steps up to a 5,000mAh battery and a considerably more ambitious camera array, rumored at 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens.
What Happens Next
Samsung will formally unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Unpacked event on July 22, alongside expected refreshes to its Galaxy Watch lineup, which is reportedly prone to this same price hike.
European pricing leaks surfaced earlier and pointed in a similar direction, lending some consistency to this latest US report even though nothing is official yet.
With less than two weeks remaining before the event, expect additional pricing and spec leaks to surface, though Samsung’s final decision on Ultra pricing specifically still appears to be in flux, according to SE Daily’s sourcing.
