Samsung Drops a Surprise Second April Update, and One UI 8.5 Beta 2 Is Here Too
Samsung is ending April with a flurry of updates, and nobody saw the timing coming. Just as April wraps up, the company has pushed a second April security update to the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S25 series.
And not only that, but also dropped One UI 8.5 Beta 2 for six additional devices, including the Galaxy S23 trio, the Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A35. Two separate update tracks, one very busy Monday morning for Galaxy owners.
The Surprise Second April Update for Galaxy S26 and S25.
Confirmed on the Samsung US Community forum, the second April update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra is now rolling out, just weeks after the first April patch.
The Galaxy S25 series is also receiving the same update, with both lineups showing a new build number that was not previously seen.
What stands out is the unchanged changelog. According to SammyGuru, which first spotted the rollout in Mexico with firmware build AZD4, the official changelog is the same as the earlier April release, with no listed differences, making the update’s purpose unclear.
Such back-to-back updates typically point to region-specific carrier optimizations, silent bug fixes not publicly documented, or network compatibility adjustments.
With Galaxy users in the US now getting it, a carrier-related change appears likely. This groundwork likely secures the memory-tagging and proximity-sharing features expected for the One UI 9 transition, though Samsung has not confirmed anything.
One UI 8.5 Beta 2: Six Devices, Real Fixes
The bigger news for a wider audience is One UI 8.5 Beta 2, which is simultaneously rolling out to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A35 today.

Galaxy Z Flip5 Update Details and Sound Enhancements

Galaxy A36 and A35 Stability for the Mid-Tier
