Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 Just Leaked And One Design Choice Will Divide Fans
The first real look at the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is here, and it is already sparking debate. Leaked CAD renders published by OnLeaks in partnership with XpertPick give us the clearest picture yet of Motorola’s next flagship flip phone.
The design is familiar, and the specs are promising, but one controversial decision is already raising eyebrows before the phone even launches.
What Do the Leaked Renders Show?
According to Android Authority, the Razr Ultra 2026 keeps the same large cover display wrapping around the dual cameras, a clean symmetrical frame, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Motorola’s dedicated AI button sitting on the left edge, almost identical to the 2025 model at first glance.

Here is what the leaked renders confirm:
- 4-inch cover display: Same wraparound design as the 2025 model, bezels unchanged
- 7-inch inner foldable screen: No apparent reduction in bezels for 2026
- Brushed silver colorway: A new finish with revised fabric texture on the rear panel
- Moto AI button: Returns on the left edge alongside standard volume and power controls
- USB-C, SIM slot, speaker grille: Identical bottom edge layout to the current model
- Dimensions: 171.3 x 74.1 x 7.8mm unfolded, 88.0 x 74.1 x 15.8mm folded
That last point is where things get controversial.
The Razr Ultra 2026 is slightly thicker than its predecessor, 0.6mm more when unfolded and 0.1mm more when folded. In a foldable market where every millimeter matters, that is a deliberate choice from Motorola.
Why Is Motorola Going Thicker When Everyone Else Is Going Thinner?
This is the question every Razr fan is asking right now. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 slimmed down to under 14mm when folded. Motorola is heading in the opposite direction, and it appears to be doing it on purpose.
According to Android Central, the added thickness has led to speculation that Motorola could be working on a battery upgrade or camera enhancement, though no specifics on internal specifications have been confirmed yet.Â
That theory makes sense. The Razr Ultra 2025 shipped with a solid 4,700 mAh battery, already one of the strongest in its class. A thicker chassis could mean Motorola is pushing that even further, while also leaving room for better thermals and faster charging.
Motorola devices are considered to be some of the best Android phones and currently hold roughly 50% of the US foldable market. This domination is not accidental; the brand has consistently prioritized real-world usability over chasing spec sheet records.
The practicality-versus-thinness tradeoff is now the central question heading into launch season, especially with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and iPhone Fold both arriving later this year.
When Is the Razr Ultra 2026 Launching?
Motorola has not announced an official launch date yet. Based on last year’s timeline, a summer 2026 reveal is most likely. The announcement could coincide with the broader Razr lineup, which is expected to include the standard Razr and the Razr Fold.
Outside North America, the device will be marketed as the Razr 70 Ultra.
Thicker Does Not Mean Worse, If Motorola Delivers
A bigger chassis is only a problem if nothing inside justifies it. If the Razr Ultra 2026 arrives with a larger battery, improved cameras, and smarter AI features, the extra millimeter will be quickly forgotten.
Motorola has earned enough trust with the Razr line to get the benefit of the doubt, but the pressure is on to prove this tradeoff was worth it.
